Award Worthy Screenplays

It’s the time of year where we debate the brilliance of the previous year’s films. The discussions are lively, and in my world, are centred on the quality of the story itself. I know, everyone wants to talk about directors and actors, but let’s face it, without the writer, the rest is really moot.

There are places on the net you can go to download screenplays, and generally, I prefer not to promote places that might not be on the up and up, but here’s a couple of places you might want to check out.

Deadline Hollywood Daily  posted an interview with Aaron Sorkin and provided access to the screenplay for, The Social Network.  Just click on: DHD

Focus Pictures is making a number of their scripts available For Consideration. This includes The Kids Are Alright.

Roadside Attractions has their scripts for awards season available at their website. This includes the script for Winters Bone.

The Sony Classics site includes scripts for Barney’s Version and Made in Dagenham (one of my favorite movies this year.)

Weinstein Company has made available several scripts, as well. The King’s Speech page offers script and music. Blue Valentine is also available.

Only a writer would say… These are all films worth reading. Enjoy.
